Review: Pixi Rose Caviar Essence

[Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links]

I have a thing for roses. I can’t get enough of roses, I put rose jam on my toast, I put rose essence on my face, yada yada. When I saw Rose Caviar Essence I had to have it. I’ve become a Pixi Skintreats convert, so hopes were high for this… essence? Booster? Not totally sure how to define it. I mean, it says it’s an essence, but it’s much thicker, more like an aloe vera gel in terms of texture. Suspended in the gel is a bunch of little…cute… orange… blobs? These are plant oils, this is where the roses live.

It’s such a satisfying product to use, smushing those little beads of oils into your face. I use this after cleansing and toning, just like a traditional essence, and I find this melts into the skin very quickly. Pixi Rose Caviar Essence acts as an extra layer of hydration before I add my serum, helping said serum sink in smoothly. It’s very pleasant to use, I use a chickpea-sized blob that I massage into my face with upward strokes. The only downside to this is that it runs out quickly!

I was a little afraid that this would be super essential oil-y, and smell really strong, but it’s not like that at all. The smell is like a rose bush after the rain (I’m a poet!), clean and dewy and refreshing.

Hello Saffron! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and i’m happy that you’re doing these Pixi reviews because I have really enjoyed some of their rose line. That is, I have the exfoliating lactic cleanser that I really like and I have this essence I also really like but I found that it ran out super quickly for me, as in, I used it all up in less than two months! So while I enjoyed the lightness and scent and moisture, I just found it wasn’t a very good value. Maybe I was slathering too much on? What do you think?

Hi KD! Thank you for reading my blog <3
I think you're totally right! I use around a chickpea sized blob and my tube is running out reeeeal fast. I feel like you need to use a lot since it absorbs so fast! So I do agree that it's not good value for the price. I'm adding this to the cons list in my review. It's only a 45ml tube after all, so only slightly more product than a traditional serum.

Anyway, tell me about this lactic acid cleanser! I'm in desperate need of new cleansers!!

It was the Peel & Polish one you reviewed a while back – like you, I’m a big fan of it 🙂
